VirusScan® scans e-mail attachments as you try to open them or save them to your hard drive. This scanning is done in the background.
For best results, don't open e-mail attachments directly from an e-mail message. Save them to your hard drive first, and then open them. If an attachment contains a virus, VirusScan® detects it when you try to save it to your hard drive. A window alerts you about the virus and provides options to handle it.
